Vrede er en gave

The pacing of the chapters really lets you sit with each character's pain and hope, and that final act hit me harder than I expected. It’s a heavy read, but the love story threads through it beautifully and makes the community’s resilience feel earned.

I couldn't put this one down—the way it captures both the raw fear and the fierce love of a community under pressure feels painfully real, and the pacing kept me hooked past midnight. It's the kind of book that makes you want to sit with it a while after the last page.

I was blown away by how the love story and the social justice themes weave together—it's rare to find a coming of age novel that handles both with this much heart. The way the community's resilience is portrayed made me tear up more than once, and I finished it in two sittings.
