A niin kuin Aretha

The thick pages hold up well to my 2-year-old flipping through them solo, and the ABC structure makes it easy to pause and chat about each featured musician. We're only halfway through the alphabet and I've already added three new names to my own playlist.

My toddler asks for this book every night, and I appreciate how the bold illustrations make each musician easy to point out. It's a fresh take on the alphabet that introduces real history without feeling like a lesson.

I love that each letter highlights a real Black woman musician, so my daughter is learning her ABCs while being introduced to powerful artists like Nina Simone and Bessie Smith. The board pages are sturdy enough for her little hands, which is a must at this age.
