Once upon a time . . . fairy tales were awesome

In this mischievous and utterly original debut, Hansel and Gretel walk out of their own story and into eight other classic Grimm-inspired tales. As readers follow the siblings through a forest brimming with menacing foes, they learn the true story behind (and beyond) the bread crumbs, edible houses, and outwitted witches.

Fairy tales have never been more irreverent or subversive as Hansel and Gretel learn to take charge of their destinies and become the clever architects of their own happily ever after.

Isabella J. ★★★★★

Got this for my kid and ended up reading it myself first. The way Hansel and Gretel jump into eight other Grimm tales keeps the pace fast, and the dark humor is perfect for older kids who think they've outgrown fairy tales. My only complaint is I wasn't supposed to be the one hogging it.

Edward ★★★★★

The way it reimagines classic fairy tales with Hansel and Gretel crashing into eight other Grimm stories is so clever—my kids couldn't put it down and neither could I. The paperbacks pages feel sturdy enough for repeated bedtime reads.

Abigail ★★★★★

The way Hansel and Gretel jump into other Grimm stories is so clever, my nine-year-old couldn't put it down. The paperback feels sturdy enough for all the rereads it's going to get.
