Here, fourteen-year-old Janie meets a mysterious apothecary and his son, Benjamin Burrows – a fascinating boy who's not afraid to stand up to authority and dreams of becoming a spy. When Benjamin's father is kidnapped, Janie and Benjamin must uncover the secrets of the apothecary's sacred book, the Pharmacopoeia, in order to find him, all while keeping it out of the hands of their enemies – Russian spies in possession of nuclear weapons. Sophia R. ★★★★★

The light blue foil on the spine really pops against the slate gray boards, giving this a special feel. I’ve been collecting illustrated editions for years, and Schoenherr’s inside drawings are a lovely bonus.

James Q. ★★★★★

The blind-stamped front cover gives it such an understated, tactile elegance, and the slate gray boards feel substantial in the hand. I've been hunting for a first printing with the original Schoenherr illustrations, and this 2011 Penguin edition delivered exactly that.

Brian F. ★★★★★

The foil stamping on the spine is such a delicate touch, and the slate gray boards feel substantial in hand. Arrived in flawless condition, ready for my shelf.
