I’d forgotten how sharp Dickens’s wit is until I reread this with my kids, and Zwerger’s watercolors give Scrooge’s cold world a haunting softness. The hardcover feels substantial, and the page size shows off every illustration beautifully. It’s become our new Christmas Eve tradition.

The illustrations by Lisbeth Zwerger are absolutely stunning, and they bring Scrooge’s story to life in a way I haven’t seen before. My kids were actually glued to the pages with me, and the artwork made the old tale feel fresh and magical. This is one Christmas book we’ll be pulling out every year.

The illustrations by Lisbeth Zwerger really elevate this edition—each page feels like a small piece of art. I’ve read the story many times, but seeing it through her eyes made it fresh and cozy for our family’s Christmas Eve read-aloud.
