Alice in Wonderland
Category: Old & Rare
CARROLL, Lewis. Alice in Wonderland. Adapted by Jane Carruth. Illustrated by Rene Cloke. NY: Derrydale [1990]. 8vo, 92pp. Color pictorial boards. Color pictorial endpapers; color illustrations throughout. A fine copy without dust jacket as issued.
First US edition thus. Accompanied by a series of dazzling illustrations by British illustrator Rene Cloke, this lengthy picture book edition captures more of Dodgson’s text than most picture book adaptations. Cloke’s delicately colored illustrations unlock a doorway to a whimsical, fantasy world and wide-eyed wonderment that spoke to a more innocent time for children.
