McClurg & Co, 1915. 8vo, [x] 133pp. Red cloth decoratively stamped in gilt and brown. Pictorial endpapers; 6 color plates and numerous two-color illustrations. Some dampstaining to cloth around edges and spine, spine ends and lower corners a bit rubbed, else an internally clean, tight copy in original color pictorial dust jacket (dampstained around edges and spine, foxing to front panel, light chipping and wear across upper edge, slightly soiled). Scarce in dust jacket.

First edition. A stage adaptation of Carroll’s beloved tales of Wonderland by the American playwright, actress and activist perhaps best known for her experimental, feminist dramas and her involvement with the Little Theatre Movement in Chicago. The six uncredited color plates are truly wonderful!

Stella L. ★★★★★

I was thrilled to find this 1915 dramatization—the original illustrations inside are still crisp and charming. The 133-page text is complete, and the cloth cover has that wonderful aged patina you hope for in a rare book.

Jacob ★★★★★

The binding is still surprisingly sturdy for a book over a hundred years old, and the illustrations inside have a lovely period charm. I found the dramatization of both Alice books into one play flows really well.

Richard ★★★★★

This 1915 adaptation of both Wonderland and Looking-Glass is a lovely piece of literary history, and I was pleased to find the 133 pages intact and the binding sturdy. It arrived just as described, with a charming patina that suits its age.
